Frit – a glass coating material available in slurry or powdered form – allows you to add decorative appearances and functions not present in the base material. Using our proprietary knowledge, we have developed frit featuring excellent coating surface and special physical or chemical properties to further expand its potential. Our technology has been well recognized by our customers in a wide variety of fields, ranging from kitchen & home appliance to industrial applications.
Porcelain enamel frit significantly improves the properties of the base metal such as resistance to acid, alkali, corrosion and hot water. Our porcelain enamel frit product line can be used on a wide variety of base metals, such as cold-rolled sheet steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper. It is available as frit flakes, fabricated products (Slurry, RTU (Ready-to-Use) powder, RTM (Ready-to-Mill), or Electrostatic powder to meet customer requirements. Our frit products also systematically reduce environmental load. In recent years, restrictions on environmentally hazardous substances such as heavy metals are becoming stricter around the world. TOMATEC strives to assist our customers by ensuring that our products are always compliant with regulations and meet international standards.
•Main Applications: Cookware, architectural panels, heat exchanger elements, water heaters, home appliances, sinks, bathtubs, etc.
For glaze frit to be suitable for use on ceramic as glass coating material, it must be lead-free to comply with environmental regulations. We exceed most environmental regulations by complying with The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 of California Proposition 65, still one of the strictest anti-lead laws in existence. We have also strengthened our support for a wide variety of ceramics as characteristics vary from one tableware manufacturer to another. Our rich track record of providing custom-made products, fine-tuned to meet individual needs, is a major characteristic of TOMATEC.
•Main Applications: High-end tableware (bone china, fine china, dolomite ware), tiles, sanitary ware, graphite crucibles, spark plugs, etc.
Our lives would not be the same without home appliances. They are made up of electronic parts, which use large amounts of ceramic materials. The frit we produce for electronic devices is used in places that are normally hidden from view, such as Low Temperature Cofired Ceramics (LTCC) and in metal lines as additives. Most are proprietary, custom products made in accordance with customer requests. We enjoy positive reviews from many electronics manufacturers for our sophisticated and high-precision design supporting the latest electronic device development with systematic reduction of environmental load, advanced production technology achieved through special production processes, and advanced quality control.

Using our experienced frit technology, TOMATEC has widened the potential applications for frit. One such example is the frit for vitrified grinding wheels, a tool used in automotive, steel, and bearing industries to grind primarily metal parts and materials. Vitrified bond systems use “frit” as a binder. We also use our advanced technology to provide products that meet the needs of our customers.
•Applications: Vitrified Grinding Wheels (alumina, diamond,
c-BN)
By applying our frit technology, we make unique products to meet the needs of our customers. One such example is “AKNAS”, the antioxidant and decarbonization inhibitor coating used by major iron and steel manufacturers to prevent oxidation and decarbonization during heat treatment. This is a product for steelmaking that we developed from our glass coating technology. When applied to the steel before heat treatment, it reduces scale loss (material loss due to rust) and simplifies post-processing, contributing to the improvement of yield in steel products.
•Main Applications: High-Ni steel, carbon/stainless steel
TOMATEC’s glass filler for artificial marble (solid surface) is the result of applying our frit technology to plastics. It is used in bathtubs and washstands due to its translucency controlled by the refractive indexes of frit to match with that of resin and superior hot water resistance. We expect its field of applications to be widened in the future by combining organic materials and frit technology.
•Main Applications: Bathtub, washstand, BMC for counters, kitchen tops, interior panels, interior products
When used as an additive, our frit improves the heat resistance and strength of paints. Frit for heat resistant paint is already widely used by leading foreign and domestic motorcycle manufacturers. In recent years, its field of applications has been widening – for example, being used as a coating for the outer surface of frying pans. This is a material for which we want to expand its field of application to areas where heat and fire resistance is a primary requirement.
•Main Applications: Motorcycle and automobile mufflers, fuel/gas stove tops, gas appliance/microwave oven parts, inner surface of boiler tanks, outer surface of frying pans
Did you know that glass can slowly dissolve in earth? F∙T∙E (micronutrient fertilizer) is based on this property. Though in tiny amounts, manganese, boron, iron, zinc, copper, and molybdenum are six critical elements for crops to grow healthy. By applying our glazing technology, we managed to commercialize these nutrients as a vitreous fertilizer. F∙T∙E is an environmentally friendly composite vitreous micronutrient made to slowly dissolve for absorption during the crop growing season. With F∙T∙E, crops can be grown under the best conditions for each region as we can adapt it for any soil.
